Privacy notice
The Kennel Website Company is in a trial phase: we are currently testing demand, and the company is being registered in the State of New York, USA. Until then you can reach us at sufyan@honestdog.de; the postal address, registration details and our UK representative will be added here as soon as they are final.
The Kennel Website Company is the controller of your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018; you can reach us at sufyan@honestdog.de. We are based in the United States, and UK data protection law applies to us because we offer our service to people in the United Kingdom.
This website loads no trackers and sets no advertising or analytics cookies; the only thing it collects is what you type into the preview's forms, voluntarily.
For your preview we store the address of your existing website, your email address and the website we rebuild from it on our servers in the European Union (Amazon Web Services, Frankfurt, region eu-central-1). To extract the content of your public website, we send its page text to Google (Gemini API, paid tier; the data is not used for training). One strictly necessary session cookie (animal_session) signs you in to your preview. When you choose a country version of this website, a second cookie (site_market, holding en-GB) remembers that choice for a year, so you land on it again next time. Both are strictly necessary for what you asked for, so they need no consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and we set no other cookies. Emails about your preview are sent via Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). A preview expires after 7 days; we delete the personal data belonging to it 14 days after it was created, unless you request to take the website over. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR (taking steps, at your request, towards a contract).
Your preview site is publicly reachable at its address until it expires: anyone who has the address can open it. The images in your preview are delivered through Amazon CloudFront's global network, which includes servers outside the United Kingdom and the European Union.
Our servers are in the European Union, which UK law recognises as giving personal data adequate protection.
Our web pages — including the preview and the forms where you enter your website address and email address — are served from our servers in Frankfurt through Amazon CloudFront's network (Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, Luxembourg, as our processor). Google may process the page text sent to the Gemini API in the USA. For transfers to the USA we rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it, and otherwise on the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses; you can get a copy by writing to sufyan@honestdog.de.
What you type into our forms – your website's address, your email address, an application or a take-over request – travels via Amazon CloudFront's network to our servers in Frankfurt. Amazon CloudFront may receive the request at a location outside the United Kingdom and the European Union; we safeguard that transfer in the same way.
Because we are based in the United States, we access the data stored in Frankfurt from there where the purposes in this notice require it, and we safeguard that transfer in the same way.
If you request to take over your website, we store the invoice details (name, address, VAT number where given, email address and your note) to invoice you and complete the take-over (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR). We keep invoices for the periods the law requires (Article 6(1)(c) UK GDPR). A take-over ends the automatic deletion after 14 days.
If someone sends an application through the form on a preview website, we store it with the preview. The Kennel Website Company processes this data to pass the application to the website's owner: they receive an email naming the applicant, a fit score computed from the answers, and a link to the back office where the full application can be read; the applicant receives a confirmation. The application is deleted with the preview 14 days after the preview was created, unless the website is taken over. Once a website has been taken over, its owner is the controller for applications, waiting list entries and contact requests made through it; The Kennel Website Company then processes that data on the owner's behalf as their processor (Article 28 UK GDPR).
When you give your email address in the preview, we receive an internal email notification with your email address and your website's address. If you request a take-over, our internal notification additionally contains the details from your request (billing name, address, VAT number where given, and your note), so we can help you with any questions.
If you sign up for The Kennel Website Company and send your details in an application to a breeder, we process that data to deliver the application and run your account. The legal basis is likewise Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR (performing, or taking steps towards, the contract with you and, for the application, with the breeder).
When you visit our website, we process technically necessary log data (e.g. IP address, timestamp, page requested) to operate, secure and troubleshoot our hosting. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning service).
If you voluntarily join a waiting list to be contacted by a breeder about a future litter, we process your contact details for that purpose on the basis of your consent, Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR. You can withdraw that consent at any time, for example by emailing sufyan@honestdog.de; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask what we hold about you and for a copy, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our processing, and to receive your data in a portable format — write to sufyan@honestdog.de. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we would appreciate the chance to deal with your concern first.
